      Because you don’t have to build half the seating, half the lighting, and FOUNDATION. Not to mention you don’t have to hire staff, provide or build food services, facilities (bathrooms, plumbing), construct access to utilities, etc.

    Pretty colossal amount of work considering it will have to be taken down after the tournament which only last 2 weeks. For me it is unfortunate they could not find a solution for remaining at the previous location due to restrictions which would prohibit additional Construction.

      You should see how long it takes to build the temporary seating areas at the Phoenix Open. They start in like September. The tournament is 1 week in February, then start tearing it down the day after the tournament ends and finish in like April. The 16th, 17th and 18th holes literally spend 6 months of the year under construction for a 1 week tournament.

      Alan Suess were you able to actually go to the site at all? I have not had the pleasure to visit the previous location although I am sad to see it leave it old home. I have been to the western and southern open 7 years and enjoyed it especially after renovation. It does seem a pity to spend all that money making a temporary Stadium Court. It's unfortunate they could not find a solution to stay at the old location. Peace

    There's nothing "inverted" about this. This is how theaters and stadiums have been built for centuries. How can you patent this? Did you invent the Globe Theater? What about La Bombonera? Churchhill Downs?

    It occurs to me that a lot of older arenas (Boston Garden, and to a lesser extent Chicago Stadium & Maple Leaf Gardens come to mind) were built like this to certain extents, with rows or sections of seating stacked on top of one another to make a smaller, more intimate arena. Maybe it sounds like I'm ragging on y'all for "inventing" something that's not really new, but I'm not trying to - I genuinely like this idea and hope this kind of arena becomes the new standard again.

  • @Canman99
    @Canman99 6 років тому

    Hmmm...Calgary needs a new arena! Did I see the Flames in this? Hehehe? I think this is a great concept- bringing fans closer to the action and really letting the crowd noise reverberate throughout the concourse should make for great atmosphere.
